National Labor Organization (NLO), based in Kathmandu, Nepal. We are one of the labor research based organization in Nepal, mainly involved in media and publication, Public awareness, Occupational Health and Safety, training and development, HIV/AIDS to those migrant workers as well as domestic workers nationally and internationally.

Nepal is facing solemn challenges and political instability. Because of this reason, young generations are heading aboard daily in search of new job opportunities in different countries like Dubai, Malaysia, Qatar…etc. According to the data of labor Ministry and transport management, about seven hundred migrant workers are heading aboard daily. One of the famous destinations to these Nepalese migrant workers is India.

Secondly, the main destination is gulf countries to the migrant workers. In lack of knowledge, migrant workers are facing tribulations. Migrant workers have to do complicated job which is hazardous and unsafe. Whatever, agreement made by Nepal government authority is different when they go aboard? This is because of the unstable political government and diplomatic relationship of labor is zero with other countries. Migrant workers do not have the knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety.  Due to this reason, 1.1 million people die from occupational accident and diseases each year and 250 million workers met occupational accidents and 160 million suffer from occupational diseases each year according to the data of International Labor Organization. On the other hand, 2000 workers met workplace accident and 200 lives are lost every year.

In Nepal scenario, every month 50 to 60 dead bodies  is being sent back to their home county from different countries where migrant workers is being sent to work. To bring these dead bodies from foreign country, the relatives have to bear one hundred thousands to four hundred thousands depending on the country where they are employee. The family has to sell the property or have to take loan from the bank to bring the dead bodies. Family has to bear big financial burden though they are living under the poverty line. In the context of Nepal, husband is the main income source to their family. When husband passed away the family is being forced to stay under the poverty line and have to pay the loan in any cost. The government of Nepal did not show keen about the mention scenario. The government of Nepal is only focusing remittance rather than workers.

In order to awake migrant workers, National Labor Organization has made a documentary film production of labors in Malaysia, who are currently employee in different sectors. In this documentary, the labor has share their experience and difficulties, which they are facing at the moment. They have advice other migrant workers to take training and precaution before they move aboard. They have also suggested taking advice from nearest embassy of Nepal, before their departure.

NLO is going to board cast the documentary film production from three reputed TV channel in Nepal, so the people can know the real situation of overseas. From this documentary they can know the kind of work they have to do. The main aim of this documentary is too aware the grass root people.
